Wien

In Vienna, the festival will take place at Westbahnhof Railway Station downtown. Our Train will stop there, and the locals will be invited to the mobile exhibition “Outside the Gallery”. A site-specific art intervention made by Richard Loskot especially for Vienna during his residency will be installed nearby. The visitors, as well as random travelers, will be treated to Mamacoffee coffee and beer from Vinohradský Brewery in the dining car.

Side events for the Czech audience will include guided tours by local partners. One of them, KÖR (Kunst im öffentlichen Raum), has been active in art in the public space since 2004. The list of partners also includes the Tracing Spaces that operates the Museum Nordwestbahnhof and has realized numerous interventions. At the same time, the independent activist festival Urbanize will take place in Vienna, exploring the issues of eco-social transformation and we encourage you to check it out.

In addition, side events will include the screening of the 8 episodes of the documentary series “Art of the Outskirts” and Jan Strejcovský’s documentary movie Outside the Gallery. Examples of good practice in presenting artworks in the public space will be shared.

The festival will end by the return of our train from Vienna to Prague. Then we’ll follow to the next destination, Berlin.

Richard Loskot

Richard Loskot (1984) is a graduate of the Faculty of Art and Architecture at the Technical University of Liberec (Visual Communication studio). He also studied for two years at the Akademie der Bildenen Künste in Michov (studio of Magdalena Jetelová). Richard Loskot's work is based on processuality and the creation of situations and environments that thematize human perception itself. At the same time, he uses sophisticated means and modern technologies, which as a result can appear to the viewer as an elaborate magic trick. He regularly presents his work at solo exhibitions, especially in the Czech Republic and Slovakia (e.g. at the National Gallery in Prague, the House of Art of the City of Brno or the City Gallery of Prague) as well as at group exhibitions here and abroad (e.g. Biennale Giovana Monza , the Rotor gallery in Graz or the Astrup Fearnley Museet in Oslo). In 2013, he was one of the finalists for the Blumm Prize in Brussels. In 2007, he won the Exit competition (Galerie Emila Filly, Ústí nad Labem) and was a finalist for the Jindřich Chalupecký Prize in 2014, 2012 and 2017. In 2018, he founded the UAII group focused on environment creation.

Westbahnhof site-specific

Richard Loskot creates in his installations a sort of modern technological still lives and subtile spatial compositions through which he continuously informs the viewers about his long-term research into „invisible“ and „what exceeds us“.
